Nazem Mezher (b. 1965) is a Lebanese painter whose work reflects the dynamic cultural and social landscape of 1980s Beirut, shaped by globalisation, the influx of capital, and the pervasive influence of international media. Through his art, Mezher captures the essence of the transformative era of the 1980s and beyond which were marked by the emergence of street culture, graffiti, hip hop, and electronic music, all while navigating the geopolitical tensions of the Cold War. His compelling paintings resonate with the energy and complexity of these pivotal moments in history. He has exhibited extensively in Lebanon and internationally, contributing to the dynamic Middle Eastern art scene with his bold creations.
