Description

Zamfir Dumitrescu (1946-2021) was a Romanian painter. He was born in Bucharest and graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts "Nicolae Grigorescu" in Bucharest in 1970. He was a university professor and later the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. He was also a member of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania and served as its president from 2002 to 2007. During his career, he supported the contemporary artistic phenomenon and initiated several laws related to the compensation of retired artists. He was also a member of international organizations such as the International Guild of Realism and the Italian association CallforArt.

Zamfir Dumitrescu has held several personal exhibitions and participated in numerous collective and group exhibitions both in Romania and abroad. He was awarded various prizes and honors for his work, including the Romanian Academy Award in 2002 for his book "Ars Perspectivae". He was awarded the National Order "For Merit" by the President of Romania in 2002 for his contributions to the arts.
