Description
An oval silver vide-poche of shallow, concave form, centred with an inset Swiss commemorative coin. The object integrates a numismatic element as the primary visual focus, combining decorative and utilitarian functions.
The obverse of the coin presents the inscription “CONSERVA NOS IN PACE”, encircling a detailed view of Lausanne, including its cathedral and urban fabric. The Latin motto, meaning “Preserve us in peace”, reinforces the commemorative and symbolic character of the piece. The reverse bears the inscription “Société de Banque Suisse / Schweizerischer Bankverein” together with the dates 1872–1972, marking the centenary of the Swiss Bank Corporation.
Produced by Jezler & Cie AG of Schaffhausen, a firm known for incorporating coins and medals into silver objects, the piece reflects mid-twentieth-century Swiss production, where clarity of form is combined with emblematic imagery.
