Description

A two-piece serving set comprising a spoon and a server, executed in the Empire style. The handles are structured and slightly tapered, terminating in a shaped end engraved with the monogram “GM”. The bowl of the spoon and the blade of the server are gilt (vermeil), creating a contrast with the silver-plated handles and enhancing both function and appearance.

The design reflects late 19th-century revival taste, where classical motifs are reinterpreted through refined industrial production, characteristic of Christofle’s output.

The marks correspond to Christofle manufacture, including a rectangular stamp and a less common workshop variant combining triangular and square framing, used in the late 19th to early 20th century.
