A complete set of eight beakers and matching tray, executed by hammering, reflecting an Art Deco approach through clarity of form and surface treatment. The beakers are of robust construction, with a slightly flared rim and a compact body, the interiors gilt, creating both a visual contrast and a functional protective layer (vermeil).
The rectangular tray is defined by gently undulating edges and a hammered surface, which catches the light and reinforces the handmade character of the ensemble. The set balances geometric restraint with subtle decorative articulation, characteristic of early 20th-century German design associated with reform movements in applied arts.
The marks indicate production in Germany, with the presence of the Richter-Engelhard workshop in Saarbrücken and the monogram “ORE”, attributed to Oskar Richter-Engelhard. The inclusion of the DWB mark connects the set to the Deutscher Werkbund, an influential association promoting quality and coherence in design and craftsmanship.
