Description
A rectangular cigarette case with hinged lid, the surfaces finished with guilloché engraving on both sides. The cover is framed by a gilt border of acanthus leaves, arranged along all edges in a Neo-Baroque manner, creating a contrast between the textured ground and the applied decorative frame.
The object is worked in hammered silver, with selective gilding enhancing the ornamental zones. The combination of guilloché pattern and gilded vegetal motifs reflects early 20th-century German production, where technical precision is paired with revival-style decoration.
The marks indicate manufacture in 835 standard silver, a fineness associated with German workshops of the period. A Romanian control mark (1926–1937) attests to later circulation and verification within Romania. The interior bears the stamped number “10”, likely a workshop or inventory mark.
