Description
Ștefan Constantinescu (b. 1898, Târgu Ocna, Romania - d. 1983, Bucharest, Romania) was a Romanian painter. Also known for his mosaics and murals across Romania, Constantinescu was a professor of Monumental Painting at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. Constantinescu extended his painting techniques to his other mediums in which nature is the prime subject.
His works often portray alluring urban and rural landscapes, painted in a post-impressionist manner. In Balcic, a quiet day at the beach in the seaside town unfolds under the keen eye of the artist. The tones of blue are carefully distributed, as the balanced use of colours emanates tranquillity and attests to the rich scenery.
Constantinescu was widely exhibited throughout his career, both nationally and internationally such as in Hungary, Italy, the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Austria, and Germany.
